Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the Socratic Journal application.

Interpretation and Definitions

Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

Definitions

For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions:

  • Application means the software program provided by the Company downloaded by You on any electronic device, named Socratic Journal.

  • Application Store means the digital distribution service operated and developed by Apple Inc. (Apple App Store) in which the Application has been downloaded.

  • Company (referred to as either "the Company", "We", "Us" or "Our" in this Agreement) refers to Studio Next Ltd., 68B Gascony Avenue Street, United Kingdom.

  • Country refers to: United Kingdom

  • Device means any device that can access the Application such as a computer, a cellphone or a digital tablet.

  • Service refers to the Application.

  • You means the individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.

Acknowledgment

These are the Terms and Conditions governing the use of this Service and the agreement that operates between You and the Company. These Terms and Conditions set out the rights and obligations of all users regarding the use of the Service.

Your access to and use of the Service is conditioned on Your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions apply to all visitors, users and others who access or use the Service.

By accessing or using the Service You agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If You disagree with any part of these Terms and Conditions then You may not access the Service.

You represent that you are over the age of 13. The Company does not permit those under 13 to use the Service.

Subscriptions

Subscription Plans

Socratic Journal offers the following subscription options to unlock premium features:

  • Monthly Subscription: Billed monthly on a recurring basis
  • Yearly Subscription: Billed annually on a recurring basis

Subscription prices are displayed in the Application and may vary by region. All prices include applicable taxes where required by law.

Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for new subscribers. If a free trial is offered, it will be clearly disclosed in the Application along with its duration. At the end of the free trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.

Billing and Payment

Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the cost of the chosen subscription plan.

Managing Your Subscription

You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time by going to your device Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Cancellation will take effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to premium features until the end of your paid subscription period.

Refunds

Payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, you may contact Apple directly through their support channels.

Price Changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices at any time. Any price changes will apply to subsequent subscription periods and you will be notified in advance of any changes to the subscription price.

Description of Service

Socratic Journal is a journaling application that uses the Socratic method and Hegelian dialectics to help you explore your thoughts through guided questioning. The app uses artificial intelligence to generate thoughtful questions designed to deepen your self-reflection and personal growth.

AI-Generated Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to generate questions and responses. You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content is provided for personal reflection purposes only
  • AI responses should not be considered professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or psychological)
  • The Company is not responsible for any decisions made based on AI-generated content
  • AI responses may occasionally be inaccurate or inappropriate

User Content

You retain ownership of all journal entries and content you create within the Application. Your content is stored locally on your device and is your responsibility to back up.

Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding User Content), features and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of the Company and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the Country and foreign countries.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Company or its suppliers be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages whatsoever (including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, loss of data or other information, for business interruption, for personal injury, loss of privacy arising out of or in any way related to the use of or inability to use the Service, third-party software and/or third-party hardware used with the Service, or otherwise in connection with any provision of these Terms), even if the Company or any supplier has been advised of the possibility of such damages and even if the remedy fails of its essential purpose.

Disclaimer

The Service is provided to You "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" and with all faults and defects without warranty of any kind. The Company makes no warranty that the Service will meet Your requirements, achieve any intended results, be compatible or work with any other software, applications, systems or services, operate without interruption, meet any performance or reliability standards or be error free.

The Service is not a substitute for professional mental health care. If you are experiencing mental health difficulties, please seek help from a qualified professional.

Governing Law

The laws of the United Kingdom, excluding its conflicts of law rules, shall govern these Terms and Your use of the Service. Your use of the Application may also be subject to other local, state, national, or international laws.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right, at Our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material We will make reasonable efforts to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at Our sole discretion.

By continuing to access or use Our Service after those revisions become effective, You agree to be bound by the revised terms. If You do not agree to the new terms, in whole or in part, please stop using the Application.
